20,000 visitors to the HAUS 2024 trade fair - Baufrühling in Dresden

A spirit of optimism in the exhibition halls - there are signs that the property market is brightening up. Prices have fallen, interest rates are stable, subsidies have been reopened or increased but are limited. That's why thousands of property buyers didn't want to wait any longer and took advantage of this year's HAUS construction fair to find out all they needed to know about building and buying their own home. From 7 to 10 March, over 400 exhibitors from seven countries presented an overview of the current range of products and services in all areas of planning, building and renovation throughout the Dresden exhibition centre. There was hammering, sawing and cooking and, of course, intensive consultation - the best building fair atmosphere in the Dresden exhibition halls. 20,000 visitors, full exhibition halls, attractive exhibition stands and lots of new products - the exhibitors came from the construction, building materials and components, trade, building technology and property sectors and were delighted with the successful trade fair with targeted enquiries and a high willingness to invest.
From dream homes to dream houses: the trade fair showcased the broad spectrum - from low-cost modular houses to popular timber houses, from replacement new builds to refurbishments. Only in eastern Germany will the home ownership rate be around 5 per cent higher in ten years' time; there are more unfulfilled housing wishes here and better opportunities to turn them into reality - favoured above all by more affordable building land. These are the findings of a study by empirica and LBS Research. In addition, the 2024 construction trade fair also featured tried-and-tested focal points such as ‘Meeting Point Roof’ and ‘Wood as a Building Material’ as well as innovations - from the solar flower to the world first ‘Modern Heating Technology Meets Meissen Porcelain’. The 16th ENERGY trade exhibition with its advisory services was once again integrated into HAUS and provided information on new heating subsidies and energy-efficient building refurbishment, among other things.
Since the first HAUS in 1991, the trade fair has developed into a reliable constant for all those involved in construction and this year once again offered networking opportunities for all market players: the programme included suitable formats such as the Building Law Day, a Planners' Day and the awarding of the new Saxon State Prize “Building Practice of the Future”. With the Saxon State Prize ‘Building Practice of the Future - Sustainable, Innovative, Circular’, the Free State of Saxony was looking for new developments in construction that have the potential to play a decisive role in shaping the turnaround in construction towards sustainability and climate friendliness. On 8 March 2024, Minister of State Thomas Schmidt presented awards to the winners at the ‘HAUS 2024’ construction trade fair in Dresden. A total of four ideas impressed the jury so much that they were honoured with a state prize. Building materials made from broken bricks and clay, an external insulation-heating-cooling system and lightweight walls made from carbon concrete came out on top.
The current increase in funding for housing construction in Saxony is providing market impetus, and the rural home ownership subsidy programme will also be offered again from April. In rural areas, i.e. outside of Chemnitz, Dresden and Leipzig, households without children can also receive support for the construction or purchase of new homes, as well as for the renovation or extension of existing homes. This opens up new opportunities for Saxon builders and also for the upcoming building and property fair in autumn, Bauen Kaufen Wohnen on 7/8 September in Dresden. The next major HAUS construction trade fair will then take place again in spring - from 6 to 9 March 2025.
